Hali Kai Retreat, Hawaii
March 21 - April1, 2007

Brought to you by Kathrin Parsons

2,000 double; $2,200 single
Kathrin Parsons, retreat leader Gayle Weisfield, art teacher

We had our first ever Rush Studios Hawaiian Creative Retreat in March of 2006, and were blown away by the beauty, privacy and meditative quality of Hale Kai, our retreat center located on its own beach at Ho’okena on the west side of the Big Island of Hawaii. By the second or third day, I swam with beautiful spinner dolphins—twice! I immediately booked as many future retreats as I could at this magical place. The first of these is March 24-April 1, 2007 (see my web site, www.kathrinparsons.com for 2008 dates).

Gayle was with us for the 2006 retreat and I am warmly welcoming her back as our art teacher for the 2007 retreat—and as many more as she will agree to! Gayle, a professional watercolor painter with an outstanding resume, is one of the most fabulous art teachers I have ever worked with. She brought the best out in each woman—from the complete novice, to the professional artist, each woman on the retreat had at least one terrific finished painting to take home.

Our cook and lomi lomi massage therapist, Julie Stowell, will also be back due to popular demand. Julie is a true healer, and her healthy, delicious meals kept everyone feeling fantastic. You’ll love the tropical fruits, big salads, fresh fish, chicken and other treats as prepared by Julie.

Hale Kai - A Brief History

Hale Kai was built with as little impact on the environment as possible. The yoga studio, where we will be creating art, was built entirely by hand. All construction materials were consciously chosen and selected with sustainability and minimal environmental impact as the top priority. Although the roofs are no longer thatched, due to county regulations, the solar electric system is now state of the art and all rooms have private full or half baths (and there's still the original outdoor shower!). All of the furniture and cabinets are made of bamboo, coconut wood, and other exotic and beautiful environmentally-friendly materials from Bali. It is a very elegant version of a Swiss Family Robinson-style experience!

Today guests are able to relax in hammocks, enjoy outdoor showers, snorkel, swim with a myriad of colorful tropical reef fish, sea turtles, and spinner dolphin. Guests can view humpback whales off the lanai or from kayaks, watch sunsets, meditate, or do their own practice in the yoga studio.
