I felt frozen in time watching this little "Spiritual Janitor" perform his earthly duty, removing the old wax and candles from this alter. Outside the Cathedral the roar of Chichicastenango's Market Place, rises above a rainbow of color and texture. It was this juxtaposition of opposites that gave me the inspiration for this painting.

This little lady leaning out her doorway was absolutely fabulous. Her white apron and colorful huipil sparkled in the bright sunshine. The beauty of the people, textures of the streets, and the rainbow of colors worn by all, left me gasping for air. I am looking forward to my next trip to Antigua.

I had the most fun painting this one. It was an explosion of color, pattern, and texture. My Niece and I had such a wonderful time shopping for Masks at the market in Chichicastenango, it was almost impossible for us to make a choice. Everyone seemed to call out to us. "pick me."

While we were staying at Hotel Atitlan these two local guys were fighting over biting our toes!

These good looking fellows were quite the show stopper at Hotel Atitlan, and in this case we found another way around this gate. The beautiful birds and flowers were like the cherry on top of this picturesque setting which is our home for four nights of our Painters retreat to Guatemala.
